Emirates have revealed plans to double the number of flights on their Dubai-Dublin route.

Air travel between Ireland and Australia has received another boost with Emirates revealing plans to double the number of flights between Dubai and Dublin.

The airline’s Chief Executive Tim Clark revealed the news earlier this week following a meeting with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny who is visiting the Middle East.

Much of that extra demand on the route is understood to be coming from Irish nationals travelling to and from Australia.

A statement from the airline’s Dublin office said: “Emirates is keen to expand its presence in Ireland and confirms that we plan to start a second daily service to Dublin later this year.

It’s a very positive start to 2014!

Emirates is one of two airlines offering one-stop routes to Dublin. The other, Etihad, uses Abu Dhabi as its stopover point.
