BACKPACKERS in WA have been warned of a mysterious man after seven tourists were left stranded in scenes reminiscent of ‘Wolf Creek’.

BACKPACKERS in WA have been warned of a mysterious man after seven tourists were left stranded in scenes reminiscent of ‘Wolf Creek’.

 

A warning note posted at a local hostel has warned travellers.

“Please be aware of young 25-35 male “farmer cowboy” going by the name of Joe Sturt (possible real name is Jack) he is asking around local hostels, accommodation for travellers to work on Contract Mustering teams jobs in WA/NT area,” it reads.

“HE IS NOT WHO HE SAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“7 travellers from Kimberley Croc Backpackers YHA, Kununurra 12/6 went with him to Halls Creek and within 24 hours they had been reported missing persons been sent off by him into different dead end locations with no petrol,” the poster reads.

“It ended with 5 persons in a serious car accident, resulting in 2 being flown to Perth Hospital in a critical condition. The rest are treated for minor injuries and were then left stranded in HC.”

Backpackers are being told not to have anything to do with the mystery man. Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please share with friends and family in the various areas.
