I first used Airbnb during an epic east coast of Australia trip. I, of course, was extremely sceptical about staying in a randomers house.

The experience worked out to be miles better than using Booking.com. The main difference was the ability to cook and the cost.

Today along with the Airbnb coupon in Australia(which can be used anywhere not just in Australia!) I wanted to share some quick tips for booking your first stay and things you should know.

FYI if you are thinking about becoming an Airbnb host this article is awesome.

Airbnb tip 1 before taking advantage of your Airbnb coupon in Australia:

Set your dates before you do a search

This is the most important; it can be easy just to type your location and hit that search button.

You will see thousands of listings and when you finally find that dream place guess what… it will probably be unavailable during the dates you want to book.

Many times I went from extreme excitement to extreme disappointment when the Airbnb was already booked, or only available for half the time.

However, if you have looked with the dates and can only find a limited selection then try to do a quick search without dates sometimes you can find a place that is available during six days of your seven-day stay.

Airbnb tip 2: Be wary of extra fees

Airbnb is amazing and once you book your first stay you wonder why the hell you didn’t use it before. However, for such a great service, they have a pretty high service fee.

At the time of writing this article, it is set at 12%. They also charge the host 3%.

Additionally depending on where you are there may be local taxes, government taxes or some form of additional taxes. These are normally quite low but do add to the costs.

You cannot avoid the Airbnb fee and while it may be quite high the level of customer service they provide is excellent.

I only had to request a refund one time due to the host not mentioning the fact that the apartment was on a construction site haha.

But they refunded me the full amount and were very understanding of the situation.

Airbnb tip 3: Read the reviews and enjoy your time

My personal favourite bookings are the entire places as opposed to sharing the space with the owner. Of course, this option is always more expensive.

That said it is well worth reviewing the reviews(snap). Trust me if you see the same issue coming up over and over again it is likely it still exists.

I always message the host before booking to see if they can offer any additional discounts if I am staying for a week or more.

I have stayed in some epic places around the world and be sure to register here to reserve your $55 Airbnb discount.

Final tips for your Airbnb coupon in Australia:

First of all the AU$55 discount can be used anywhere in the world.

Don’t worry if your own currency is not AUD it will automatically convert it to your local currency including  €¥$£.

Even if you don’t plan on taking a trip now if you reserve your discount it will be there for when you are ready to book.

Thanks for reading and be sure to share.
