The Top 10 Most Powerful Passports In 2017

(Last Updated On: January 17, 2017)

2017 is here; it is a new year full of new resolutions. But this year how does your passport rank?

Since 2014 every year we have been sharing the most powerful passports and even the least powerful passports.

What makes a passport the most powerful?

While there is a few factors that can measure the power of a persons passport it comes down mainly to how many countries that person can visit without a need for a visa.

The index takes into account the number of destinations that can be visited without acquiring a visa prior to departure by travellers from more than 200 countries.

In previous years the Irish and Australian passports have ranked very well and this year seems to be more in favour of the Irish passport ;)

Poor ole Liechtenstein has been knocked off the top 10; maybe next year will be its year.

Keep in mind that as some countries are equal regarding how many countries they can visit without the need for a visa.
